YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. A virtual AI institute is being created in Armenia in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (USA) and Mistral AI (France), announced Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan during a parliamentary discussion of the 2026 draft state budget.

"The Virtual AI Institute is a virtual platform aimed at stimulating and supporting researchers and startups in the field of AI, as well as research institutes and universities," the minister stated. Hayrapetyan announced the launch of this platform in July of this year.

According to Hayrapetyan, a procedure for startups and research institutes to apply has already been developed, and a range of tools are planned, from computing resources to promoting their products through marketplaces.

"As for computing resources, applications will be accepted based on needs. Grants will be provided based on ready-made AI algorithms from Mistral AI," the minister said.
He noted that, according to estimates, 55,000 engineers and programmers are employed in Armenia's technology sector.

"Our goal is to increase the number of specialists involved in IT through various mechanisms," Hayrapetyan noted.
