Fraudsters in Armenia defrauding citizens using a new scheme – official warning
YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. A group of fraudsters is currently carrying out targeted attacks on people working in various fields, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of High-Tech Industry reported.
"The fraudsters are well-prepared: they carefully study people's personal, professional, and social connections, then, through a fake account (WhatsApp, Viber, etc.) created in the name of a known person well-known in a particular professional field, provide false information that the National Security Service (NSS) is interested in the person. After this, the person is contacted by a fake NSS officer, who, incidentally, (often) speaks Russian," the statement reads.
In the end, the victim is coerced by any means necessary to transfer 'salvage' money from their bank account to another one.
The Ministry has advised vigilance and urged individuals not to yield to provocations.-0-
