ArMath team from Armenia triumphs at World Robotics Olympiad
YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. ArMath team, which represents Armenia, has emerged victorious from the open tournament of the World Robotics Olympiad in the junior category.
The ArMath team comprised Ararat Bayanduryan, Grigor Khojayan (both hailing from the village of Aygut), and Vahe Gabrielyan from Yerevan school #131. The team was guided by their coach and leader, Shahen Arabachyan.
According to the press service of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), the young Armenian engineer-athletes achieved a score of 162 points during the tournament, surpassing the Romanian team “3 Ways of Garbage” and the German team “JT-Innovators.”
They showcased a robotic device designed to detect leaks in gas pipes (video available here - https://www.facebook.com/ArmathEngineeringLaboratories/videos/1065764878998865/).
The World Robotics Olympiad Open Tournament is recognized as one of the most esteemed competitions in the realm of technology. It is conducted in two phases. The winners of the national phase, who attain the necessary score, qualify to compete in the international phase. This year, 214 participants from 44 countries took part in the Olympiad.
ArMath is a national initiative in Armenia focused on informal engineering education and stands as one of the principal projects of UATE. Presently, there are approximately 630 ArMath engineering workshops across Armenia, which means there is one in every second school in the nation. This initiative represents the largest public-private partnership project in Armenia, executed with the backing of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.-0-
